Review: ABC 30 iPad App
Everyday and night, ABC 30 KFSN-TV will remind its viewers that it is the first in the Valley with an iPad app. Here at the Dues, we were pretty disappointed with ABC 30′s iPhone app. But with a new app to review, we’ve given them a second chance at redemption.
What ABC 30 failed to do well on their iPhone app was have a good user interface. For their iPad app, that seems to be no problem. With a very cool launch screen (a picture of a Fresno landmark broken up into individual squares) and an even cooler interface for looking at news, ABC 30 has hit the jackpot already with this one.
One of the upsides to ABC 30′s iPad app is this: it’s easier to navigate the app than their own website. With each section receiving its own square, it’s an intuitive way of looking at a wide variety of news and information.
What’s even better? The weather section. You can get the forecast, see where the fog is hovering (via FogTracker) all in one place (without having to watch a video, though videos are available).
Naturally, there’s plenty to be excited about with this app: local news with a great interface, intuitive navigation and faster app. While there can be some tweaking to make it better, the app is one that you can’t really complain with.
The Action News team has a winner with their iPad app (now if they could only work on their iPhone app). Take a look at the slideshow of photos above.
