2009 Awards in Tech (Part 2)
And continuing on…

2009 Award for Best Multimedia Site: Hulu. As I determined, if Hulu began to charge for it’s content service (and Fancast died), I would drop my cable TV service and pay for Hulu. On-demand TV wherever you go (sooner or later on the iPhone), that’s instant gratification. Hats off to Hulu for somehow making tons of greedy network goons get together and make the world a better place with more entertainment and less advertising.

2009 Award for Best Pocket Cam: Flip Ultra HD. If you need to film something, the newest gadget to get is a Pocket camcorder. Of them all, the Flip has dominated since its inception. Through the line’s development, it has gotten better. My favorite, unlike the winner, is the Flip Mino HD, which just looks cooler, is smaller and holds less. However, the Ultra HD is just SPECTACULAR. By far the best on the market, and nothing really compares. As much as Apple tried, the iPod Nano just didn’t make it very far as it doesn’t shoot HD. Next time Steve.

2009 Award for Best Podcast: The Adam Carolla Podcast. His famed radio show was cancelled in favor of a top 40 radio station and the great Adam Carolla was able to take lemons and make them into lemonade: Hello Podcasting. The 2005 fad had been reinvented with Carolla’s stardom and need to do something behind a mic. Throughout the year, with one of the top podcasts on iTunes, Carolla inked a deal with CBS Radio to create a new radio streaming station called K-ACE. Keep up the work Ace, we’ll be listening up tomorrow for another great podcast.

2009 Award for Best Vlogger: iJustine. Of her many talents, her ever famed Apple Store dances are what make Justine Ezarik such a great lifeblogger. From meeting Akon to will.i.am, Ezarik has taken YouTube and made herself into a social networking celebrity. Justine is one of those people that everyone needs to know, she sprinkles tech here and there with a touch of real life and serious fun (how paradoxical). Her great work on MacBreak Weekly is one of the reasons she has kept such a high spot in the Tech section. Congrats iJustine!
